What is Caring Hearts Ministries?

Caring Hearts Ministries is the disability ministry of the Zanesville (OH) Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Since the mid-1990’s we have been pursuing our mission…

“To share Christ’s love and hope with people who have disabilities and their loved ones”

This ministry began with one family whose fourth child, Ben, was born with Down syndrome. Ben’s mom wanted to reach out to others in the same situation. A disability committee was formed, and they prayed for God to open doors for the Gospel to be shared in practical ways. God answered by making a way for a Bible study to be held in a semi-independent living facility for adults with intellectual disabilities, which later led to providing accessible bus transportation to our services. Later on, as Ben grew, Friendship Parties were offered for children who have all sorts of disabilities and their families to come and just have fun. Out of those monthly parties came Friendship Youth Group and a Caregiver Support Group. Since the early days, we have held annual Disability Awareness Sundays in our church and our congregation has wrapped its arms around this ministry. Countless participants and volunteers have been blessed by our current ministries and our members recognize them as one of the top strengths of our church.

“Go out quickly into the streets… and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame… so my house will be full” Luke 14:21b & 23b

We pray that the helps from this website will encourage you and your church to reach into your congregation and out to your community so that many may come to know Jesus in a personal way.
